Grief, Loss & Resilience Group: Post-Fire, Session 1

Grief, Loss & Resilience Group: Post-Fire Support Series

The Malibu Foundation invites members of the Malibu community and those impacted by the Franklin and Palisades Fires to join a special 4-week Grief, Loss & Resilience group, facilitated by Dr. Elizabeth Topp, PhD, CA Licensed Psychologist.

This free online series offers a safe, supportive space to process grief, navigate life transitions, and build resilience in the aftermath of wildfire trauma. Together, we will explore the emotional landscape of loss, while learning practical tools for self-care, emotional healing, and post-traumatic growth.

The series will include:

  • Psychoeducation on grief, loss, and emotional processing

  • Guided journal writing to support immune function and emotional clarity

  • Skill-building for self-care, stress reduction, and mindfulness

  • Trauma-informed approaches for resilience and healing

  • Structured sessions focused on Endings, the Neutral Zone, and New Beginnings (inspired by the work of William Bridges)

Whether you are experiencing grief personally or simply seeking tools to better support yourself and your community, this group provides space for reflection, connection, and shared healing.
